Example Playgrounds

At Russell Play, we seek to create the most innovative, action-packed and environmentally friendly play areas in the industry.

We have always led the market in introducing new products and we believe that the next phase of our development will continue this theme of design creativity and innovation for our product lines and playground designs.

We have seen many changes in our business and the multi-task roles that we now have to undertake including product and playground design, sales management, consultation and contracts management have required us to adapt our company to these needs. Please see below a small selection of example playgrounds.

Jubilee Park

Edinburgh City Council has created the largest single rope structure in Europe at Jubilee Play Park. Russell Play worked with the Council’s play designers to provide a unique play area specifically designed for this site.

Suitable for children aged 8 and over, the structure incorporates three large space nets linked with high level walkways, nets, hammocks, swing ropes and slides. Up to 200 children from local schools attended the open day in November and were delighted with the adventurous play opportunities provided by this new facility.

This bank replaces the need for a fence. Colours within the design have been controlled to help blend the structure into the woodland setting. The structures tower up into the trees with high level walkways, nets, hammocks, swing ropes and slides all adding to the wow factor for children.

Kippie Lodge

Set within the boundary of the City of Aberdeen in the picturesque scenery of the Dee Valley, Kippie Lodge is a private sports and country club which has recently carried out a five figure modernisation of their outdoor play area.

Russell Play built the original play area on the site more than twelve years ago to cater for children of all ages. In keeping with the modernisation theme, the new Metro Active Large Combination MA2013 climbing frame was selected as centre piece of the upgrade, as well as 'Metro' toddler swings and a 'Metro' Access swing.

The 'Metro' range of play and sport equipment is manufactured exclusively by Russell Play and has as a standard twenty years anti-corrosion guarantee as well as anti-graffiti technology paint finish. For the complete 'Metro' range please visit our website or ask for our edition 20 catalogue.

Uphall Sports Area

In 2007/8 there were forty new ballcourts built in Scotland with the benefit of a grant of £10,000 SFA award, using special funding which came from the European Union of Football Associations.

West Lothian Council took advantage of the partnership agreement between the Scottish Football Association and Russell Play to use this grant towards the cost of a new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at the west end of Uphall where a lack of facilities for teenagers had been blamed for anti-social behaviour over a long period of time. The site had an area which was previously a tennis court and was ideal to use as the base for the ballcourt, with a skim of tarmac. The whole area is fenced with 3m high Metro Sport unit which incorporates goals for football and basketball to create an all weather sports arena.

The ballcourt is attractively presented in Scottish colours of Blue and yellow, and Russell Play supplied a new Teen Shelter within the site for kids to ‘hang out’ in. The new recreation area has been declared a great success.

Joeuf - France

Russell Play are very proud to announce another successful installation of a multisport as part of the Hat Trick project under UEFA. This ballcourt is located in the town of Courdimanche in the north west of Paris. The ballcourt has been specifically designed to suit the FFF (French Football Federation) requirements and is already very popular within the community as it is the meeting place for the youth this summer.

Another very successful installation is the ballcourt based in Joeuf. Joeuf is not only a very small town in Alsace Lorraine but it is also Michel Platini's birth place, head of the UEFA and this makes this project very special. There will be an official opening and we are very proud to be part of it with our partner Schmit Environnement Services.

International School of Aberdeen

At the International School in Aberdeen, the lucky children have been enjoying the new redevelopment of their school play area.

The design includes the use of a large climbing structure as a centre piece from Russell's stainless steel Ludoparc 'SPIDERKID' range.

Ironically, the whole school is under threat of relocation at some point in the next few years to make way for the proposed new Aberdeen city by-pass!
